2026 6th IM Cross-Strait Youth Film Festival - Short Film Competition Call for Entries
I. About the IM Short Film Competition: To gather emerging talent in Taiwan's film and television industry, to re-examine and revamp Taiwan's film and television energy, to discover good stories and works worthy of promotion, and further to bring these works to overseas film festivals, thus creating a new wave of Taiwanese cinema, the Taipei Audiovisual Program Production Business Association, in cooperation with the Fujian Provincial Radio and Television Group, is organizing the 6th IM Cross-Strait Youth Film Festival. This competition welcomes original short films from young students submitted within the past three years, facilitating cultural and creative exchange and digital content creation between the two sides of the Taiwan Strait.
II. Eligibility:
1. Entries must be completed after January 1, 2025.
2. Entries must be films made by Chinese students worldwide during their studies at universities or graduate schools, or within three years of graduation.
3. Entries must be between 10 and 30 minutes in length (including the opening and closing credits).
4. Entries must be original works created by the entrant, who must be the legal owner of the submitted film.
5. If any version of the film (including re-edited versions) has been submitted to previous IM Cross-Strait Youth Film Festivals, the film is ineligible for competition.
6. Participants (including creators and participants) must meet the student status requirement: currently enrolled students in higher education institutions (junior colleges, graduate schools, or post-graduate second degree programs) or graduates of 2023-2026.
※Proof of enrollment or graduation certificate is required.
7. Entrants who use AI (Artificial Intelligence Technology) to assist in their creation must promise that the core creative idea belongs to the author and truthfully record the use of AI in their work during online registration, including whether AI was used, the stages of use, and the proportion. Entries that fail to provide this information or make false disclosures will be disqualified.
III. Awards
1. Best Film (Kirin): Approximately NT$1.2 million
2. Jury Grand Prize (Kirin): Approximately NT$600,000
3. Best Director (Kirin): Approximately NT$480,000
4. Emerging Short Film (Kirin): Approximately NT$320,000 x 2 films
5. Special Mention in Taiwanese Narrative (Kokui Dialect): Approximately NT$100,000 x 2 films
6. Outstanding Short Film (Kirin): Approximately NT$80,000 x 6 films
*Supplementary Notes:
(1) Other individual awards will be announced separately by the organizing committee;
(2) The final winning entries will be accepted by the entrant's representative. The prize money distribution is unrelated to the organizing committee; the prize money does not include tax and will be awarded after tax deduction.
IV. Registration Period The 6th IM Cross-Strait Youth Film Festival is open for registration from now until 12:00 noon on July 1, 2025. Entries submitted after this deadline or with incomplete information and attachments will not be considered for judging.
V. Required Attachments
1. Application Form (complete online).
2. Upload both the main feature film and trailer files to a website that provides authorized downloads, such as FilmFreeway, Google Drive, Vimeo, etc. If the video is set as a private file, a valid password is required. All videos must be at least 1920x1080 pixels (inclusive) in MOV/MP4 format (Codec H.264). For file length and size specifications, please refer to the following guidelines:
Main Feature Film: Limited to 10-30 minutes in length and no more than 3GB. Subtitles in Chinese are required.
Trailer: Limited to 1 minute in length and no more than 300MB. 3. All attached image files must be 150 pixels, JPEG format, and no larger than 5MB, including:
Two recent photos of the director (not ID photos).
One vertical poster of the work.
3-5 stills from the work (not behind-the-scenes footage).
4. Proof of enrollment (graduation certificate or enrollment certificate issued by the department/institution between 2023 and 2026) PDF/JPEG file.
