National Kaohsiung University of Science and Technology Youth Art Award Collection Competition

1. Purpose
National Kaohsiung University of Science and Technology values ​​the humanities and arts. To enhance the aesthetic vision and artistic appreciation of faculty and students, the "Young Artists Award Collection Competition" aims to reward and collect works by emerging artists, fostering aesthetic growth, and thereby strengthening the artistic atmosphere on campus, integrating artistic beauty into the fabric of the campus life, and bringing the humanities and arts closer to students.

3. Submission Period: From now until midnight on September 15, 2021. (Extension)
4. Exhibition Dates: December 6, 2021, to December 31, 2021 (tentative).
5. Eligibility
Individuals and groups holding Republic of China (Taiwan) citizenship or residency in Taiwan are eligible to participate. For group entries, at least one-third of the group's members must be young artists holding Republic of China citizenship or residency in Taiwan. Individual artists may also register. If the work is a collective creation, one representative will complete the registration information and indicate the co-creators in the registration system.

VI. Submission Categories and Content:
(1) Mainly visual arts works (including oil painting, mixed media, printmaking, watercolor and acrylic, ink and gouache, calligraphy and seal carving, three-dimensional and sculpture, video, photography, new media, and other works). Media, technique, and subject matter are not restricted, but the work must be suitable for storage, circulation, transportation, and public display.
(2) Entries containing media that are unsuitable for storage, fragile, or difficult to exhibit will not be accepted. If the entrant still sends the work after evaluation, the organizer will not compensate for damage to the received work.
(3) Each artist may submit a maximum of two works (sets) for review. VII. Award Information
Gold Award
Quota: 1 winner
Prize: NT$300,000 (including 10% tax and supplementary premium), a Gold Award trophy and a certificate of preservation. The winning work will also be included in the collection of the National Kaohsiung University of Science and Technology.
Special Award
Quota: 1 winner. This award is limited to sculptures.
Prize: NT$200,000 (including 10% tax and supplementary premium), a Special Award trophy and a certificate of preservation. The winning work will also be included in the collection of the National Kaohsiung University of Science and Technology.
Collection Award
Quota: 19 winners
Prize: NT$30,000 to NT$50,000 (including 10% tax and supplementary premium), a certificate of preservation. The winning work will also be included in the collection of the National Kaohsiung University of Science and Technology. Alumni Collection Award
Quota: 1 (This award is donated by alumni of National Kaohsiung University of Science and Technology, and is limited to graduates and current students of National Kaohsiung University of Science and Technology)
Award: NT$30,000 to NT$50,000 (including 10% tax and supplementary insurance premium) and a collection certificate. The winning work will also be collected by National Kaohsiung University of Science and Technology.

VIII. Registration method and review information:
(I) Preliminary review
1. All applications must be made through the "online registration" system:
(1) Please log in and register on the National Kaohsiung University of Science and Technology Youth Art Award Collection Application website (URL: https://yaa.nkust.edu.tw) to complete the online registration.
(2) After the registration information is uploaded, the system will send a confirmation email to the correct and valid email address.
(3) If you have any questions about the operation of the online registration system, please contact the organizer by phone. 2. Specifications of works:
(1) Take one full-view photo and up to two close-up photos of the "creative work". The photos of the work must be clear and no post-production or retouching is allowed. If found, the entry will be disqualified.
(2) Image specifications: The file must be a JPG file, the color mode must be RGB, 300 dpi, and each image must be limited to 5 MB.
(3) If it is a component work, a full-view photo of the complete combination must be provided.
(4) Notes for various types of works:
① Prints and photographs: The edition and type of edition must be indicated (for example, A/P editions must also indicate the edition); photographs must indicate the edition.
② Flat works: The total size of the work (including the frame) is limited to 500 cm wide and 240 cm high (if the work is a component, the size of the components after assembly must meet the above restrictions).
③ Three-dimensional works: The length, width and height are limited to 200 cm respectively. The size and weight must be suitable for indoor exhibition. ④ Video works: The edition number must be indicated.
(II) Submission for Review
1. Applicants who pass the preliminary review will be notified by the organizers to submit their original work for review. Applicants who fail the preliminary review will not be notified separately.
2. Please package your work properly and ship it to the organizers for review. If you wish to deliver it in person, a receipt will be issued on site. For mail or freight delivery, the entrant will be responsible for shipping costs and any losses incurred during transportation.
3. Entrants who fail to submit their work for collection after review must retrieve it within one month of receiving notification. If you fail to do so within this timeframe, the organizers will not be held responsible for its storage.
4. 2D works should be signed and inscribed, and should be suitable for hanging and display.
5. 3D and multi-media works must be packaged in outer boxes or cartons to facilitate return collection. Note:
※ Participants should pay attention to the size regulations for their work. For the initial review, the number of photos, prints, and partial or detailed images must comply with the regulations. If the number exceeds the specified number, the organizer will select photos or prints that meet the specified number for review. For the second review, if the organizer finds that the size does not meet the requirements, the work will not be accepted or returned. The return fee will be borne by the participant.
※ If the second review work is sent by mail or shipping, please ensure that it is securely packaged by the participant. Any damage caused by improper packaging during shipping is the participant's risk and the organizer is not responsible.
※ Works framed in glass will not be accepted for signature.
IX. Exhibition, Awards Ceremony, and Work Insurance
(I) Exhibition Dates: December 6, 2015, to December 31, 2013 (tentative)
(II) Exhibition Venue: National Kaohsiung University of Science and Technology, Campus 1
(III) Awards Ceremony: December 6, 2015 (Saturday) (tentative)
(IV) Insurance:
1. Entries that pass the preliminary review and are mailed will be insured by the organizers at their expense. The insurance period is from the date of mailing to the organizers until January 31, 2016.
2. The authors are responsible for insurance for their entries as needed. The organizers are not responsible for any damage or loss during transportation.
10. Winners' Notice:
(I) Winners agree that the copyright of their original works will become the property of National Kaohsiung University of Science and Technology upon winning the award and agree to sign a copyright transfer agreement. Winners are required to refrain from exercising their copyrights. However, winners may publish their works in portfolios, on personal websites, or for educational or public benefit purposes, and may reproduce, adapt, edit, transmit online, create web pages, or digitize their works as necessary. However, any commercial use requires the school's consent.
(2) Prizes cannot be redeemed multiple times.
(3) Prizes include income tax, second-generation National Health Insurance supplementary premiums, and stamp duty.
11. Other Notes:
(1) All participants are deemed to agree to abide by the provisions of these brochures.
(2) Applicants' information must be accurate, and their entries must not infringe upon the copyrights of others. In case of violation, the applicant shall bear legal responsibility and the organizer may disqualify the applicant and recover the prize money and trophy (or certificate).
(3) Applicants who enter the re-qualification process but are unable to submit their works due to personal reasons will be deemed to have forfeited their entry and will be prohibited from participating again for two years. The organizer may release the entry for a replacement.
(4) All entries may not be borrowed during the re-qualification period. (5) Please keep the preliminary review materials for your own archiving; the organizer will not return them.
(6) Participants must obtain their own authorization for any music, video, or other copyrights used in their creations. Any disputes will be the responsibility of the participant.
(7) The University reserves the right to research, exhibit, photograph, publish, publicize, post online, produce promotional materials, and publicly display the works without geographical restrictions, time limits, or frequency restrictions, and reproduce them in digital form. The University may also upload the digitized works to the Internet or other digital software for non-profit online retrieval, viewing, downloading, or printing.
(8) Any omissions or amendments to this call for submissions will be announced on the event page at any time.
